Obverse description Three-quarter facing head of the nymph Larissa, turned slightly to the left, rendered in the fine early classical style. The hair is bound in a sakkos, with loose strands framing the face, and a pendant earring adorns the ear. The modelling of the face is of exceptional quality, characteristic of the celebrated Larissaean die-engraving tradition of the late fifth century BC.
