Obverse description The royal coat of arms of Portugal surmounted by a crown, centrally positioned in the field. The shield displays the characteristic Portuguese escutcheon with quinas, framed within a cartouche. The design is struck in a simple, utilitarian style consistent with colonial coinage produced at the Goa mint during the reign of King José I.
