Reverse description A bold floriated or scalloped cross pattée occupies the full field, its four arms curving into decorative terminations, with each canton charged with a single crowned ermine spot, alluding to the Duchy of Brittany. The design is contained within a beaded inner circle, and the circular Latin legend in Gothic script is separated by pellet stops and runs around the outer edge within a beaded border. A small letter N, the mint mark for Nantes, appears at the end of the legend.
