| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the quartered royal arms of France and Navarre, surmounted by a crown. The shield is flanked on either side by the royal cipher 'H' for Henricus. The circumferential Latin legend reads HENRICVS IIII D G FRAN ET NAV REX, identifying Henry IV by the grace of God as King of France and Navarre. The design is characteristic of the hammered coinage of the Dauphiné region, with bold relief on the armorial shield. |
