| Obverse description | Central device consists of a quartered shield of Dauphine-France, displaying the arms of the Dauphine (with dolphin motifs) and the fleurs-de-lis of France in alternating quarters, all within a plain border. The shield is rendered in the Gothic heraldic style typical of late 15th-century French hammered coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading clockwise within the outer rim. The flan is irregular, as characteristic of hand-struck billon coinage of this period. |
