Obverse description Central field features the crowned royal arms of France, displaying three fleurs-de-lis on a plain shield surmounted by an ornate crown. Flanking the shield to the left and right are two crowned royal cyphers in the form of the letter H, the initial of Henri IV. The mint mark and mintmaster's differents appear below the shield. The surrounding circular legend in Latin identifies the king as ruler of France and Navarre.
