| Obverse description | Central field bears the royal shield of France, semé of fleurs-de-lis, surmounted by a royal crown. The crowned arms are flanked on either side by a crowned capital H, the royal cypher of Henri IV, all set within a circular legend. The mint mark K appears in the lower field. The peripheral legend, rendered in Latin majuscules, reads HENRICVS IIII D G FRANC ET NAVA REX, identifying the king as Henri IV, by the grace of God King of France and Navarre. |
