Obverse description A plain cross divides the field into four quarters, with two fleurs-de-lis and two crowns placed alternately in the cantons. The cross is boldly struck in the hammered style typical of late Valois coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design, naming the king and his dual title as ruler of France and Poland. The date appears within the legend. The overall composition reflects the standard typology of Henri III's billon coinage.
