| Obverse description | Central field features a fleur-de-lis device surmounted by a royal crown, flanked by two additional fleurs-de-lis arranged symmetrically in the field. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle. The surrounding legend, struck in Gothic characters, reads + PHILIPPVS.D:G.REX, identifying the issuer as Philippe VI, King of France by the grace of God. The flan is irregular, characteristic of hammered medieval coinage, with a beaded border visible along the inner margin of the legend. |
