| Additional information |
Louis XIII's copper coinage was reorganized by royal edict in 1629, which restructured the double tournois across provincial mints and introduced type distinctions that numismatists now use to sequence the series. Tours, as one of the historically significant mint towns of the ancien régime, had produced tournois-denominated coinage since the type gave the denomination its name — the original denier tournois struck at Saint-Martin de Tours in the medieval period. By 1633, the mint was operating under tight royal oversight as Richelieu consolidated fiscal administration.
The 2nd type classification under Dy#1369 reflects a specific effigy variant, not merely a date range.
