Obverse description Draped bust of Louis XIII facing right, set within a beaded inner circle. The king is depicted as a young sovereign with flowing drapery at the shoulder. A Latin legend encircles the effigy between the inner circle and the beaded outer border, identifying the monarch as King of France and Navarre. The portrait style is characteristic of early French hammered copper coinage of the 17th century.
