Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Louis XIII facing right, occupying the central field. The legend begins at 6 o'clock and runs clockwise around the bust without an encircling inner circle. The king is depicted with characteristic long hair beneath the laurel wreath, in the style typical of late French hammered coinage of the period.
