| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Louis XIII facing right, occupying the central field. The king's portrait is rendered in a relatively crude hammered style typical of provincial French copper coinage of the period. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, partially reading LOVIS XIII D G R FRAN E NA, with the mintmark K (struck in retrograde) at the end of the legend, identifying the Bordeaux mint. The flan shows typical irregularities consistent with hammered coinage of the early seventeenth century. |

| Reverse description | The reverse displays the royal arms of France: a shield bearing three fleurs-de-lis arranged two over one in the traditional French royal heraldic disposition, all within a plain inner circle. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads + DOVBLE TOVRNOIS followed by the date 1637, with the mintmark K for Bordeaux integrated into the legend. The fleurs-de-lis are boldly struck and constitute the primary decorative element of the design, consistent with the Double Tournois coinage of Louis XIII. |
