Obverse description Central field features a large ermine spot (heraldic ermine tail) rendered in relief, surrounded by a beaded inner circle. The legend, reading clockwise in Gothic characters, runs along the outer periphery of the coin. The die is struck on an irregularly shaped flan typical of hammered medieval billon coinage. Secondary privy marks (annelet, rosette, or point depending on the variety) appear within the field adjacent to the central device. The overall style is consistent with mid-14th-century Breton feudal coinage.
