Reverse description Three fleurs-de-lis arranged in a triangular formation occupy the central field, representing the royal arms of France in a simplified heraldic composition characteristic of the Double Tournois type. The date 1607 appears in the upper portion of the legend, and the denomination legend DOVBLE TOVRNOIS runs around the periphery. The overall design is enclosed within a beaded or plain inner circle. The legends and devices are rendered in the somewhat irregular style consistent with hammered coinage from the Lyon mint. Various punctuation variants are known for this issue, reflecting the use of multiple dies.
