| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Henri III facing right, bearded and mustachioed, with a flat collar. The effigy is rendered in a style typical of late Valois royal portraiture. The legend, presented in Latin without a surrounding circle, begins at either 6 or 12 o'clock depending on the variant: legends (a) and (b) commence at 6 o'clock, while legend (c) commences at 12 o'clock. Three distinct legend variants are recorded for this issue. |
