Obverse description Laureate, cuirassed bust of Henri III facing right, with an embossed collar emerging from the cuirass; laces fall straight to the nape of the neck. The legend commences at 6 o'clock within a 13 mm inner circle. A mint mark and mintmaster's mark appear below the bust: a star denotes mintmaster Jacques Prieur (1578-1594) and a hollow triangle denotes moneyer Etienne Hubert (1563-1595), with various combinations recorded across the issue. The letter E, the mint mark of Tours, appears beneath the effigy.
