| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed bust of Henri III facing right, wearing a flat collar with laces falling straight down toward the nape of the neck. The legend commences at 6 o'clock and is enclosed within a smooth inner circle of approximately 13 to 14 mm in diameter. Numerous varieties are known for this type, differing principally in the arrangement of the obverse and reverse circles and the positioning of the mintmark letter F. Six principal legend varieties (a through f) are recorded, reflecting minor abbreviations and punctuation differences in the royal titulature. |
