Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Gaston d'Orléans facing right, with a milled collar and long curling locks falling to the shoulder, rendered in the portrait style characteristic of French feudal copper coinage of the 1630s. The legend commences at 12 o'clock and runs clockwise along the coin's periphery, contained within a smooth inner circle bordering the field.
