Obverse description Armoured, draped bust of Rudolf II facing right, depicted in a younger portrait with a ruffled collar, set within a beaded inner circle beneath the encircling legend. A small Hungarian quartered coat of arms appears in the field behind the neck, while a smaller effigy of the Madonna and Child on a crescent occupies the right field. The portrait is rendered in fine Renaissance style consistent with late-sixteenth-century Austro-Hungarian coinage.
