Obverse description Facing head of Helios rendered in high relief, his youthful visage framed by wavy, wind-swept hair radiating outward in all directions, characteristic of the sun god's iconography as patron deity of Knidos. The features are finely modeled in the Hellenistic style, with deeply set eyes, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips. The hair is elaborately arranged with tousled locks falling across the forehead and flowing freely to either side, conveying a sense of divine energy and movement. No legend appears on the obverse field.
