| Reverse description | Forepart of a rose rendered in high relief within an incuse square, depicted as a budding flower with two large recurving petals or sepals flanking a central stem terminating in a small globule at the base, with additional foliage extending upward behind the bloom. The Greek letters Ρ (rho) and Ο (omicron), abbreviating the ethnic ΡΟΔΙΩΝ (of the Rhodians), are placed in the field to the left and right of the rose respectively. The entire design is set within a slightly irregular incuse field consistent with hammered coinage of the late fifth century BC. |
