Obverse description Laureate and draped armored bust of Emperor Charles V facing right, rendered in high relief in the Renaissance manner. The emperor is depicted bearded, wearing a laurel wreath and classical paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The circumferential legend reads CAROLVS. QVINT. ROM. IMPERATOR., separated by a rosette stop at the top, with the entire design enclosed within a finely milled inner border.
