Reverse description Elaborate nine-part quartered coat of arms of Lorraine displayed on a heraldic shield, set within an ornate baroque cartouche with scrollwork decoration. The shield is surmounted by a large crown with foliate finials. The multiple quarterings display the various heraldic elements of the House of Lorraine, including bars, fleurs-de-lis, and a lion rampant. A beaded inner circle borders the design from the surrounding Latin legend MONETA AVREA GORZIENS CVSSA, identifying the piece as a gold coin struck for Gorze.
