| Reverse description | A large, prominent Chi-Rho monogram (☧) occupies the central field, formed by the superimposition of the Greek letters Chi (Χ) and Rho (Ρ), a well-known Christogram adopted as a political and religious symbol by Magnentius. The Greek letter Alpha (Α) appears to the lower left of the monogram and Omega (ω) to the lower right, signifying the beginning and end as a Christian theological statement. The surrounding legend in Latin reads SALVS DD NN AVG ET CAES, invoking the health and salvation of the emperors. The mint mark TRP or TRS appears in the exergue, identifying production at the Treveri (Augusta Treverorum) mint. The reverse composition is notably bold and large-module, consistent with the double maiorina denomination struck under Magnentius from AD 350 to 353. |
