Reverse description Central cross formed by four crowned, back-to-back double L monograms (the royal cipher of Louis XIII), with a fleur-de-lis in each of the four quarters between the arms of the cross. The mint mark A (Paris) is displayed within a small circle at the centre of the cross. Four crowns are positioned at the cardinal points of the cross, flanking the legend. The circumferential Latin legend CHRS VINC REGN IMPE, an abbreviation of Christus vincit, regnat, imperat (Christ conquers, reigns, commands), runs around the field within a beaded border.
