Obverse description Laureate and armored bust of Henry II facing right, with a full beard and flowing hair beneath the laurel wreath. The king is depicted wearing an ornately decorated cuirass with richly engraved pauldrons and gorget, rendered in a bold Renaissance style. The royal monogram H appears at the base of the truncation. The circumferential Latin legend runs along the inner border of the coin, separated from the effigy by a plain inner circle, with a beaded outer border.
