| Reverse description | Hammered copper reverse displaying a bold multi-line Arabic legend in Naskh script across the field, reading 'Na'ib Amir al-Mu'minin' (Deputy of the Commander of the Faithful), a standard honorific title claimed by the Jaunpur Sharqi sultans asserting quasi-caliphal authority. The inscription fills the flan without a central cartouche, with additional marginal text encircling the field along the periphery. The strike is characteristically uneven, with areas of weak impression at the margins consistent with the irregular planchets of Jaunpur copper issues. The surfaces show natural cuprite patination with traces of green verdigris. |
