Obverse description Central shield of Savoy — a plain cross on a quartered field — displayed within a beaded inner circle. The shield is rendered in the Gothic heraldic style typical of 14th-century Savoyard coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the inner circle, reading AMEDEYS COM (Amadeus, Count). The overall design is characteristic of hammered feudal silver coinage of the period.
