Obverse description Central field displays the papal coat of arms of Clement XIV within an ornate baroque cartouche, featuring a quartered shield bearing a cross and horizontal bands with three fleurs-de-lis at the base. The shield is surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter, flanked by elaborate acanthus scrollwork. A beaded inner border frames the design, while the circular Latin legend CLEMENS · XIV PONT · M · AN · II · runs along the periphery, identifying the pontiff and the regnal year. The engraving, attributed to Giovanni Hamerani, displays the refined classical style characteristic of the Rome Mint in the late eighteenth century. The milled outer edge provides a neat boundary to the coin's face.
