| Obverse description | Central device consists of the heraldic shield of Cardinal Pier Francesco Galleffi, camerlengo during the Sede Vacante, surmounted by the papal umbrella (umbraculum) in profile and the crossed keys of Saint Peter, with pendant tasseled cordons flanking the escutcheon on either side. The shield bears a rooster and stars on a horizontally-lined field. The circular Latin legend SEDE VACANTE MDCCCXXX runs along the upper periphery, with the mint signature N ROMA C in the lower field, engraved by Niccolò Cerbara at the Rome Mint. |

| Reverse description | A dove with wings outstretched in flight is depicted at the centre of the field, surrounded by radiating glory of fine sunbeams emanating in all directions, symbolising the Holy Spirit. The upper legend reads VENI LVMEN CORDIVM (Come, Light of Hearts), a traditional invocation to the Holy Spirit appropriate to the Sede Vacante period, while the denomination DOPPIA appears in the lower exergual area. The finely milled border frames the design throughout. |
