Obverse description Left-facing bust effigy of President George Washington occupies the central field, struck after John Flanagan's classic portrait design first introduced in 1932. The legend LIBERTY arcs across the upper field, while IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed to the left of the portrait. The denomination QUARTER DOLLAR appears along the lower rim, with the mint mark P and designer initials JF and WC present in the field. The portrait is rendered in high relief befitting the five-ounce bullion format.
