| Reverse description | A plain cross with equal arms divides the reverse field into four quarters, each left largely plain in typical medieval fashion. The cross is contained within a beaded inner circle, and a small pellet or annulet appears in one quarter. The Latin legend SANCIUS runs along the outer periphery, identifying the issuing monarch, Sancho I of Majorca. The overall design is characteristic of the simple, functional style of Iberian hammered billon coinage of the early fourteenth century. |
