Additional information

The doblers of Felipe II's reign are among the most poorly documented copper issues of the Crown of Aragon's Mediterranean territories. Ibiza operated with considerable fiscal autonomy, and its local copper coinage — struck to meet day-to-day transactional demand on the island — saw minimal oversight from the mainland. Cal#699 places this piece within a long, undifferentiated series spanning over three decades, during which die quality and flan preparation varied considerably with no consistent centralized control.
