Reverse description A long cross pattee extending to the inner circle, with a crown placed at each of the four terminals, creating the distinctive crowned-cross motif. In the four angles formed by the cross, two opposite quarters contain fleurs-de-lis and two contain ermine spots, alternately disposed, symbolising the union of France and Brittany. The circumferential legend, separated from the central design by a beaded inner circle, reads SIT NOMEN DNI BENEDICTVM, a pious invocation, with the mint letter N concluding the inscription.
