| Reverse description | Five-line Arabic inscription filling the entire reverse field, containing the sultan's titles and the mint and regnal year formula. The text is arranged in horizontal registers across the flan, typical of Ottoman provincial silver coinage of the early seventeenth century. The strike is uneven with some weakness at the edges, consistent with the irregular flan shape of hammered issues. |

| Additional information |
Murad IV recaptured Baghdad from Safavid Persia in 1638 after a siege of roughly 39 days, ending nearly two decades of Persian occupation. The Treaty of Zuhab, signed shortly after, fixed the Ottoman-Safavid border in terms that held, with minor adjustments, for over a century. This dirhem was struck in the immediate aftermath — a fresh mint reasserting Ottoman authority in a city that had changed hands twice within living memory.
