Obverse description Central multi-petalled rosette or floral medallion occupying the majority of the field, struck on an irregular flan typical of hammered Ottoman silver coinage. A circular Arabic legend surrounds the central device, running along the periphery of the coin. The overall design exhibits the characteristic bold, hand-engraved aesthetic of Ottoman dirhem coinage of the late sixteenth century.
