Obverse description Two standing figures depicted in Byzantine imperial style: the emperor, robed and crowned, holds a globus cruciger in one hand and a labarum staff in the other; beside him stands the Theotokos, draped in a maphorium, her raised hand touching the crown of the emperor in a gesture of divine investiture. The imagery closely follows Byzantine iconographic conventions, reflecting the cultural milieu of the Danishmendid coinage of Malatya.
