Obverse description Central field dominated by a frontal facing bust of the ruler, rendered in the distinctive Artuqid figural style, with the head enclosed within a beaded inner circle. Flanking the bust are attendant figures in low relief, characteristic of the courtly iconographic program employed on Artuqid copper dirhams. An Arabic legend in Kufic or Naskh script occupies the outer marginal band, encircling the central design. The entire composition is bounded by a dotted border along the rim, typical of hammered Anatolian Islamic coinage of the early 13th century.
