Obverse description Plain field bearing two lines of Arabic inscription in bold, raised script, centrally positioned within the coin's face. The upper line reads '1 Dirham' and the lower line reads '1/10 Rial', denoting the denomination and its fractional equivalent. The legends are executed in a clear Maghrebi calligraphic style. The entire design is contained within a continuous inner border of fine dentilation that runs along the coin's periphery.

Reverse description Plain field bearing three lines of Arabic inscription in bold, raised Maghrebi script, centrally arranged. The uppermost line reads 'Sikka Hassaniyya' (Hasanian coinage), identifying the monetary authority of Sultan Moulay al-Hasan I. The second line reads 'Duriba bi-Taroudant' (struck at Taroudant), denoting the mint of issue. The third and lowest line bears the Hijri date '1298', corresponding to 1881 CE. The legends are enclosed within a continuous dentilated inner border encircling the entire reverse field.
