| Reverse description | Crude hammered reverse displaying a central Arabic inscription in raised relief, recording the regnal year (Année) of Sultan Moulay Abd al-Rahman. The lettering is bold and characteristic of the angular, informal calligraphic style employed on Moroccan cast and hammered dirhams of the early nineteenth century. The flan is irregular in outline, with uneven edges and surface texture typical of the hand-struck issues of the Fez mint under the Alaoui dynasty. |
