| Obverse description | Central field bearing the Shahada (Islamic profession of faith) inscribed in three lines of bold Arabic script: 'lā ilāha illā Allāh, Muḥammad rasūl Allāh' (There is no god but God, Muhammad is the messenger of God). The legends are rendered in a vigorous, slightly informal Naskh hand characteristic of Seljuk Rûm hammered coinage. The flat, irregular flan exhibits typical striking weakness toward the periphery, with no border ornament visible. |
