| Obverse description | At center, within a beaded square inscribed within a beaded circle, the bismillah legend occupies the uppermost register, followed by the Kalima (Islamic declaration of faith) and the honorific title of the Abbasid caliph Al-Musta'sim. The marginal field, divided into four segments by the corners of the inner square, bears the date written out in full in Arabic script. The overall layout is characteristic of Anatolian Seljuk silver coinage of the mid-13th century, with densely packed naskh script filling the available space. |
