| Obverse description | Frontal draped bust of the Artuqid ruler Fakhr al-Din Qara Arslan occupying the central field, rendered in a stylized Byzantine-influenced manner with long hair flanking a broad, schematic face. The figure is shown in a vested garment with visible drapery folds at the collar and chest. The ruler holds an indistinct object in the left hand, with a sceptre or mace-like element flanking the figure to the right.
