Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic legend arranged in horizontal registers, proclaiming the royal titulature of Khan Toqtamish. The inscription, executed in a bold Naskh-derived script typical of Golden Horde coinage, reads the formula acclaiming the khan as the Just Sultan whose reign shall be prolonged. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, characteristic of hammered Jochid silver coinage of the late fourteenth century.
