| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a bold three-line Arabic legend in highly stylized, quasi-Kufic script, reading 'Sultan / Shadi Beg / Khan', arranged within an interlaced geometric cartouche typical of late Golden Horde coinage. The lower register features a distinctive square or rectangular ornamental device with pellet embellishments at its corners, a recurring decorative motif on Shadi Beg issues. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with the hand-struck manufacture of the period. The overall die engraving is executed in a bold, angular hand characteristic of the Ordu al-Jadida mint workshop. |
