Obverse description Central field occupied by a two-line Arabic legend in bold Naskh script reading 'al-Sultan al-Adil / Jani Beg Khan' (the Just Sultan / Jani Beg Khan), proclaiming the ruler's title and name. The inscription is densely struck across the flan, characteristic of Golden Horde hammered coinage. The field shows the typical irregular flan shape resulting from hand-cutting of the planchet. A marginal or border inscription may be partially present at the periphery, though partially off-flan due to the irregular striking.
