| Obverse description | Hammered silver dirham struck on an irregular flan. The obverse field bears a three-line Kufic Arabic inscription arranged horizontally within the central area, reading the Islamic declaration of faith (Shahada): 'There is no god but God alone, He has no partner, Muhammad is the Messenger of God.' The legend is rendered in angular Kufic script characteristic of Andalusian taifa coinage of the 11th century. The field is plain, with no bordure or decorative elements. |
