Obverse description Hammered silver flan of irregular fabric bearing a two-line Arabic legend in the field. The upper line reads 'al-Sultan al-A'zam' (the Supreme Sultan) and the lower line reads 'Shadi Beg Khan', identifying the issuing ruler. The script is rendered in a bold, somewhat compressed Naskh hand typical of late Golden Horde coinage. The flan edges are irregular, a characteristic feature of this series, and the surfaces show a granular texture from die contact and circulation wear.
