| Obverse description | Central field bears the Islamic shahada in multiple lines of Kufic Arabic script, reading the declaration of faith. The inscription is surrounded by a circular marginal legend in Kufic script running along the inner border, itself enclosed by a beaded or linear outer border. The overall design follows the standard reformed Umayyad dirham type introduced under the caliph Abd al-Malik, with purely epigraphic decoration and no figural imagery. The die-struck surfaces show characteristic irregular flan edges typical of hammered Islamic coinage of this period. |
